With support from the Bjarne K Dahl Trust, The Red Room Company teamed up with Bundanon for a special New Shoots collaboration called the Eucalyptus Eco-Poetry Project (EEPP). The EEPP deepens emotional connections with the environment by supporting poets, students and local community to take a closer look at eucalypts through a poetic lens.
On 3 June 2016, students from Shoalhaven High School visited Bundanon to engage with site-specific eucalypts and ecological communities. Through a series of poetic activities, students enriched their creative and cultural connections with the many eucalyptus species at Bundanon Trust.
Students worked with New Shoots poet in residence, Eileen Chong, to each produce and publish a eucalypt-inspired poem as well as a group poem written on yellow bloodwood leaves.
Other poets involved with New Shoots include Lorna Munro, Eric Avery, and Mark Tredinnick.
