Jill Jones was born in Sydney and has lived for the last ten years in Adelaide. Her work has won a number of awards including Victorian Premier’s Prize for Poetry, the Kenneth Slessor Prize, the Whitmore Press Manuscript Prize, and the Mary Gilmore Award. She is the author of ten previous full-length works as well as a number of chapbooks. These include Brink (Five Islands Press, 2017), Breaking the Days (Whitmore Press, 2015), The Beautiful Anxiety (Puncher & Wattmann, 2014) and Broken/Open (Salt Publishing, 2005). Her poems have been translated into Chinese, Dutch, French, Italian, Czech, Macedonian and Spanish. An entry on her work is included in the current edition of The Oxford Companion to Modern Poetry in English. She has been a film reviewer, journalist, book editor and arts administrator. In 2014 she was poet-in-residence at Stockholm University. She is a member of the J.M. Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice, University of Adelaide.
