Angela Gardner is the author of two books of poetry, Views of the Hudson and Parts of Speech. Views of the Hudson was written during a Churchill Fellowship visit to New York and published by Shearsman Press UK in 2009. She won the 2006 Arts Queensland Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize for the manuscript that became her first book Parts of Speech, which was published by University of Queensland Press in 2007. Previously she had won the 2004 Bauhinia/Idiom 23 Prize.

Angela’s work has appeared in Meanjin, Poetry Wales, Brand Literary Magazine and Kenyon Review Online. Her work has also appeared on ABC Poetica and in print anthologies including The Best Australian Poems 2010 (Ed. Robert Adamson), Out of the Box (Ed. Jill Jones & Michael Farrell), In the Telling, Idiom23, Poetry Anthology; and Small Packages 8 Anthology (New Century Press).

She is currently working on a manuscript (working title The Told World), partially developed during a recent Australia Council Literature residency at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland in 2009. Angela Gardner also works as a visual artist.
