Kristel Saxon

Kristel Saxon is inspired by animals. Drawing and painting them make her feel good, she says.
 
Adept at balancing line, colour and texture, she brings her animal subjects to life with great focus and care. The animals in Kristel’s work are not just animals but intensely sentient beings with deep emotional lives. They are “cheeky” and “clever”. They feel sadness, joy and dream.
 
Kristel is one of Studio A’s emerging artists. Since joining Studio A in 2018 she has worked on small commissions with the Props Collective and a series of animals asleep. Most recently she engaged in a collaboration with Red Room Poetry.
