Finally! Blue Skies

During the reign of the oppressive ones,
My myopic view of the world was stuck to
the 3 by 2 self-made civil service prison.
On my left were assessment books gathering dust.
To the right, a quasi “coo-coo” colleague
Driven mad by missed promotions and
Rascals waiting to pounce on her along the corridors.
To the front and back of me were
Two more miserable employees who
Were jaded beyond recognition and
Confirmed the theory that I was in the land
Of the living dead and there was no escape or
Blue skies..
I tried looking for it up there but
all I saw was a fluorescent light surrounded by
boring patches of white squares.
It reminded me of bedlam and all I needed
Was a straightjacket to further subdue my
Spirit and the thirst to search for
Blue skies..
they say hello to me most mornings now
like a bonus prize in a lucky draw they came with
A myriad of leafy greens that beckons playfully
A colossal chaos of wood and plastic toys
That are my neighbour’s garden
A red, battered Mitsubishi colt that
Never tires of speeding away in the
wee hours of the morning.
Two happiness inducing pots of
Kmart yellow and vermillion gerberra flowers..
and the icing on my window would be
the ray of sun I see each day to remind me of
Blue skies!
Hello my elusive friend..
I am finally here.. where I dreamed you would be.
