A Child's Wish

White fluffy seeds flying and descending gracefully far from home
Like airborne pellets finding their target, except this target is a soft, jagged emerald blanket
They go as a team, never alone
Over time, these delicate cotton-like puffs transform into vibrant golden flowers
And the luminous sun eagerly sends down a ray of light onto their outstretched fingers
Friendly bees and butterflies are lured by their presence
But then the golden flower becomes frail and curls up into a ball
It lies wilted until its power resurrects its life
And then it stands tall and strong once again
A miraculous wonder.
Many see these plants as weeds and pests
But children appreciate these plants as wonderous and fascinating
They are our delicate, feathery, airborne friends
A zephyr from my soft breath allows them to take flight and spread their fine wings
They are free and no longer tethered to their home
Free to float, free to explore and free to find a new home
Their wings expand as they fly over rivers and mountains
Their parachute wings protect them as they softly and silently land
The beautiful white seeds find their place in nature
And a dandelion again dances with hope, happiness and joy.
