A day of life in the Outback

Everything is still, except for the river
Which was as long as time itself
Silver fish which turned rainbow in the sun
Were like streaks
Painted
On a dull grey line that stretched along the outback
If there were any human footprints
On the flawless, tangerine bank
They were so faint
You wouldn’t be able to see them
In the middle, there was one lone tree
One lone tree
To stand up to the repeated beating
Of the sun
A bully
Which would torment the setting
Time and time again
For eternity
