Amongst the viridian grass,

And the withered autumn leaves,

Lies a flower, pure and sweet,

As a twinkling star of the night.

A flower cadmium yellow,

With violet streaks in its heart,

Its stem so softly bowing,

Under its gentle weight.

My footsteps patter over,

Soft so it doesn’t fall,

Eyes tracing a careful circle,

Over every petal, streak and seed.

Committing it to memory,

So that I never forget,

To keep it with me forevermore,

Every day and night.
