A Guardian, A Tree

Cool Autumn mornings are when I go outside,
to greet the trees that allow the sun to hide.
Tall, tall trees with their red crunchy leaves,
open up a new world for me to see.
Tucked behind tough layers of strong bark,
is a core protecting a delicate heart.
Their jolly faces already awake at dawn,
waiting for me to arouse in the morn.
They wink at me as they grow in the Sun,
observing my dad and I having fun.
I feel protected as they look down on me,
those mighty trees that fill me with glee.
Every day their branches sway in the breeze,
which indefinitely puts me at ease.
I've matured beside you like an apple of yours,
you help me shut down my evil flaws.
