Unaccompanied by a chain of gold or silver,
Crystallites impure
Facets coarse and unrefined
The arrangement of the minerals disarrayed.
All the same its facets refract.
For that I adore.

Light glinting off violet, mauve and lilac.
The gem lusted for its appearance
For that they adore.

Amethyst is my birthstone
The Age of Aquarians
A representation of myself recognised
For that she adores.

Not out of pity nor the sake of goodness
She removed the stone where it was displayed so proudly
And made it a gift to me
As though she knew it fit better with an Aquarian identity than a Pisces
For that I adore.
