An Eternal Battle

An eternal battle, 

between ocean and shore, 

sea and sand, 

water and earth. 

Not a battle of hate, 

nor of jealousy, 

but one of envy. 

For the ocean wishes it was 

more like the earth, 

hard and unyielding, 

yet soft and bending. 

And the earth wishes it was 

more like the ocean, 

constantly moving, 

vengeful and sweet, 

furious and calm. 

But cast aside their myriad of differences, 

and their similarities shine through. 

Both have hidden depths and mysteries

best left unsolved.
