At the End of the Trail

A round shallow pool
A dark, empty mine
A small creek away,
And the water will shine.
The walk down is steep,
The cliff face sublime
The waterfall is dribbling
I could stay for a time.
It is peaceful down here
No noisy city sound
The birds fly overhead
A lovely home they've found.
The bush around me
It fills me with comfort.
The trees like the walls
Of a tall stone fort.
I must say goodbye now
To a special, small spot
That from now to forever
My heart will never be without.
