Autumn Sunrise

Over the horizon the sun clambers
emanating its first rays
that paint the sky with orange juice,
illuminating the canopy of interlacing boughs.

Zephyrs rustle the gum leaves
and rainbow lorikeet caws
call the picturesque sunrise.
A patched blanket of autumn leaves twirl

like dancers waltzing elegantly, or colours
on the surface of the sea, or wrinkles across a face.
In the field of grass a wombat scurries.
Opalescent dewdrops glisten on its back.
