It shimmers in the sunlight, scratches and dents visible on its brass body
Inscriptions in a language unbeknownst to me, reflecting my heritage and family
The rusty, metallic odour of a foundry, emanating from its skin
So firm, yet so malleable, similar to the values of my kin

It reminds me of who I am, what I am and why
Of my heritage, and values, and laws I must abide by
Its curved body clings to my arm in every condition
In the harshest of times, it prompts me to reach my ambitions

Its frame expands over time, along with my arm
Its prescence on my skin always shields me from harm
forged from brass and hardened throughout time
It's warm and reminds me of home, I'm proud to say it's mine

The comfort it gives me, the effort put into making it
Reminding me of my faith and whispering to me words of wit
My father and my uncle both have it too
In all of our hearts, its joy is imbued.
