Beauty in the Rainforest

Part the leaves
See the trees
The waterfall, the birds, the flowers
The young leopard cub
Gives its sister a nudge
As the mother takes a sip from the waterfall
The parrots dive and turn
The sun starts to burn
You need a sip from your bottle
Turn around to get it
Look back
The cubs, shot dead on the ground
The mother leopard is choking on plastic
The black lake is strangling her
The parrots disappear into your fellow humans' stomach
The flowers
Droop
And die
It’s gone, everything
No life anywhere
No life but you and your humans
You and your life-killers
