Big Middle Tree

Roots as big as boulders,
Hard scratchy skin,
My hand running against you,
A sense of nature, freedom and peace,
Years of growing unharmed,
Placed in the middle of a park,
Like a beacon of energising life,
The swish of rustling leaves,
Like a bee's wing beat,
Climbing the old tree,
Smelling the fresh air,
As high as the giants,
Living for over a hundred years,
I climb you when I’m bored,
I hop on your big brown roots,
I sniff your fresh leaves,
I think that you're asleep,
I hold you dearly in my heart,
Many others do too,
Special big middle tree.
