Burnt-out nothing

I cinder, I burn
while I toil and churn,
you gaze intently into my flame
For your pursuit of fame, no one to stop the pain
All I do is beg for rain, beg for an end to your reign
For I will be here long after you are gone
Respect me or not, I can see the dawn
Some understand but you don't
And you will go, but I won’t
While now I may burn
My day will return
I will be lush
no need to rush
I will be back
Understand what you lack
And enjoy me while you still can
For you have a lifespan
And if you don’t spend it appreciating
You will be a burnt-out nothing
