Bushfire

The leaves burn in the fire 

And the koalas climb higher and higher 

When we all thought  

It’s the end 

A man came to rescue our friends 

He struck out a heroic pose 

And bravely took out the fire with a hose 

The treetops reach into the heavens 

And the animals have learnt their lesson 

The trees swayed in the wind 

And the sun started to dim 

All the koalas prepared for sleep 

They went to bed not making a peep 

Waiting for a day just like this 

But only if they have the wits…
