Bushfires

I lay on the ground, looking up at the sky
I smell a weird smell, and rub my eye
I feel the wind gush, and smell lots of smoke
I see a huge fire, and lots of burning oak
I rush in my home, and put on a mask
Run back outside and wonder how long this will last
I turn to see the devil on earth
And pray that nature will quickly rebirth
I watch our earth turn into a fiery hell
And see what was green turn into black charcoal
I feel the wind, and smell the smoke
Hoping that nature will find new growth
I think of the times where I would run through this land
Feeling a cool breeze blow against my hand
Knowing that nothing could ever hurt this beauty
Now I’m hoping that nature will do its duty
I look back over from where I stand
And feel sorry for the plants that have lost their land
This huge red flame and glowing light
I know nature won’t go down without a fight
