Tucked away
in a drawer of dust,
withered and wrinkled:
a cardboard box

collective melancholy
yet sentiment longs
for the almost forgotten
cardboard box

tokens of friendship
smiles and laughter,
but none au fait
in this cardboard box

those friends have left,
that joy has left,
but objects are left
in this cardboard box.
