The waves crash, the sea roars,
The seaweed swishes on sea floors,
The burning sand, the big gum tree,
A beautiful haven, just for me.
Under the sun, friends laugh together,
The octopus guards his deep sea treasure,
A maze of colourful coral reefs,
Nestled in cool, clear turquoise seas.
Surfers dotted around the waves,
But boogie boards are children’s faves,
Dolphins dive around in pods,
On the jetty with fishing rods.
Goggles on, swimming free,
Up-ending cups of sand with glee,
Around the rock pools, Look! A shell!
And Eww there’s that fishy, seaweed smell.
Fish and chips on the sand for dinner,
Still out there, the one lone swimmer,
And only after the sun has set,
Are we off the beach and into bed.
