Darkness

The Sun withdraws
each ray fades gently
into the darkening sky

Night befalls
The Moon comes forth
Glowing with her silvery radiance
Freckled with stars in the distance

Like they are laughing
So bright yet so dim…
Their presence meaningless

Darkness swims around me
Shadows swaying restlessly
And all I see is black.
