Dear 2065

While the world is busy
Sitting back with their phones,
Australian marine life seeks a new home.
Moving on from the bleached reefs
White as snow,

But not as delicate
As snowflakes in winter-
This shade is a result of rising water,
A crescendo of disaster,
Leading on from the slaughter

Of pigs and livestock.
So be an unsung hero,
Perhaps be vegan,
To support the protection
Of the Great Barrier Reef Region.

Dear 2065,
If the Reefs are history,
I hope it’s enough
To say
we’re sorry.
