Diminished Presence, Elegy for Nature

The trees collapse in defeat,
the resilient set ablaze by hell’s inferno.
The sky growing thicker and thicker,
climate change prevails.
Mother Nature’s tears dry in her wake,
the rivers steadily draining out.
The rays of the fiery sun,
blistering, gleaming, and ever-growing.
Her presence diminishing,
with each forest’s collapse.
All the animals flee to the shadows,
out of sight and hidden from the crossfire.
The unhurried reduced to piles of meat,
devoured by the greater species.
Beautiful and flourishing,
yet gruesome and ruthless.
Whether to let her flourish and repair herself,
or to let her suffer and die grotesquely.
Her efforts in vain,
nature remains vulnerable and delicate.
