Excuse us While we Sing to the Sky

We sit outside, our sunsets divided;
They said I would never leave this town.
The whir of my first videotape marks our silence;
You left me by myself every sundown.
I hope you can be with me when I reach the top.
The light is fading, our lives aren’t perfect;
I wish I never believed the words I etched into my wrists.
I’ve been fighting with my mind, I feel like an addict;
I can’t help but to stare down into the abyss.
