I spent the first 4 years of my life with it,
Always kept it by my side.
It came with me everywhere,
Protecting me like a shield.
It was a wall,
Sheltering me everywhere I went.
It is old and a little torn at the edges.
It has elegant embroidered bunnies,
That were put there with a lot of love.
It has sublimely stitched silken flowers,
That were put there with a lot of time.
It has stains on it of a time when I was less able to hold things steady,
And as a result my food would spill.
It has signs of yellowing,
Of something that was once used daily,
But is now packed away in a dusty, dark corner of a cupboard,
To be forgotten,
But I will never forget it.
