Fear and Home

A wooden elephant stares at the window
The engraved tusks hang encased,
Wondering when he’ll return to his dearer
To his home sweet home
Going by wanted here
Longing for ease at home
For there he lives in comfort
Hunted for the precious of my tusks
I live in fear, hide in fear
Fear in all life
I hear the hunter come
It’s too late now,
So God help me
