The tundra snow falls, soft as sand

Dropping onto sage green ferns

The fluffy white cottony feel on my palm.

The trees shiver, shake and shoulder

They nest redpolls and bushes cradle snowberries

Under evergreen shelters.

Icicles hang tight on cave mouths

Like fangs in a vampire's smile

Smiling with a big grin.

Caribou and squirrels

Hiding, hunting and healing

Sunlight stutters and shakes,

Clouds wrapping around it like a jacket.

Frozen planks of ice shiver in an icy stream.

Salmon hide and shuffle along, thinking they are unseen.

The snow gives its frosty breath

To freeze its prey to death.
