A symbol of captivity,
a symbol of life,
a lonely bug and crab,
now husband and wife,

The beetle was once joyous,
scurrying about,
minute and colourful,
slight yet stout.

The crab was fearless,
avoiding each predator,
but all he wanted,
was a lady to remember.

Then one dismal day,
they both dropped dead,
encased in resin,
a cosy clear bed.

Now in love,
yet heartbreakingly alone,
each other’s everything
yet both so unknown.
