Gone Forever

The Deafening Sound of Chainsaws fill my ears with horror
As I prepare to take my last breaths,
A few birds fly up to me.
“I will miss you,” says a bluebird, one of my close friends.
“Same” I whisper under my breath, trying to wipe away my tears.
“I am old”, I say, thinking of the fact that I could fall any moment.
“It’s For The Best”
A Teenage girl walks up to me.
“I will remember you until the end of time,” the girl whispers, crying lightly in the construction area.
As I sit there trying to remember who that girl is,
An image comes into my mind:
A 5-year-old girl sitting on my branches, hanging up a swing.
The swing is 10 years old now.
“Why don’t you have one last swing?” I ask the girl.
The girl starts swinging.
Memories of the girl growing up pop into my mind.
Her first steps, he first word, her first playdate
Her first friend, was me.
I start shedding tears.
“Goodbye.”
