One can only wonder
How that watch still clicks
Nineteen years pass
And yet it still ticks.

Always had a terrible feeling
That it would halt
But through the years
There was no fault.

As dependable as grandpa
Laboured ‘till the day he died
Then rendered it to me
For it only to subside.

The tick had stopped
Analogous to him
The click had gone
Candle now out, his body grim.

Still have that watch
Reminds me of his great blunder
Stopped the day he died
One can only wonder.
