Gum tree, gum tree, bark so thick,

I’ll take care of you, extinction is quick.

Red gums down the Murray are filled with secrets,

Those that the elders won’t speak will leave us sleepless.

I hear the kookaburra screech,

Perching on the branches we look at the beach.

Gum Tree, gum Ttee, visit one you must,

Soft on the inside, tough at the crust.
