In a tree, close to the creek, are gumnuts.
The leaves move side to side with the gumnuts.
Swish, swish goes the grass.
Some are big gumnuts,
Some are little.
They are all strong.

I see a bird in the tree,
Looking out over the gumnuts.
They look like little peanuts.

The wind blows harshly on the gumnuts.
Gumnuts fall down—
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Sounds calming to me, like rain.

I listen to them,
I listen to them fall to the ground.
They fall fast,
They fall straight.
They have a face with no eyes.
They are brown and green.

I feel lucky. I feel safe.
