Headphones

I place them on my head.
As soft as silk.
I am surrounded by familiar tunes.
My thoughts are replaced by songs.
I am lost like a river running into an unknown sea
Lost, like a needle in a haystack,
Lost, like a kid in the supermarket,
Lost, in the sound of music.
And just like an artist needs their paintbrush,
a writer needs their ink,
a jockey needs their sneakers
and a singer needs their microphone,
I need my headphones.
To you, headphones might just be a piece of string.
To me headphones are used to express yourself, to find out new things.
Headphones give me this spectacular feeling that I just can’t explain.
And I always smile when I lose myself in the music from my headphones.
