Help the Helmeted Honeyeater

Nestled in the Victorian bush,
Amongst the little leaves on the little trees,
There is a colourful creature.
Yellow-black feathers.
Small, bright and winged.
Delicate black mask, over a sunny yellow throat.
Honey and helmets.
Branches and twigs.
Little parts of a little bird’s life.
Critically low.
Affected severely,
By land-clearing and competition for food.
Yellow tufts on a yellow head,
Needs nectar, manna and honeydew.
Known in its habitat, but not well enough.
Help the helmeted honeyeater.
