In The Night Bush

The crickets chirp, the dingoes howl, in the night bush
The wind swirls the red dirt, in the night bush
The moon shines on the trees, casting twisted shadows on the soil
The owl hoots, the marsh frogs screech, the stars shine for you and me
The wombats retreat to their burrows for rest, in the night bush
The trees whisper to each other softly, in the night bush
The kangaroos settle down for the night, you watch them rest in delight
The bats click, the gliders hiss, they fall asleep in moonlight bliss
All animals are at peace in their slumber, in the night bush
The dark clouds blanket the sky, in the night bush
The waves slosh onto the shore, glistening rocks, your face in reflection
The cold breeze pours down your back like smoke making you shiver
The platypus slice through the water and disappear over the river bend
You feel your head on your pillow and open your eyes to morning again
