Instant Memories

Photos are made when the camera goes flash
An instant memory to never forget
It’s like a locket
The frame is pretty
But it’s what on the inside that counts.
The jet black background,
Brings out the baby pink and bright scarlet flowers with fuschia tips
My face brushed up against those flowers
My hazel eyes staring deep into the lens of the camera
The man I had never met before holding the camera,
Calling out all sorts of instructions making me smile and laugh
Full of adventure;
I was younger then
The thick paper,
The kind that gives you goosebumps when you scratch it
My cute cheeky wide toothy grin,
My long messy strawberry blonde fringe,
Fell down my forehead like a waterfall
The photo sits next to me every night,
I remember the person that I used to be
Young, happy, lively
Full of glow
Photos are made when the camera goes flash
An instant memory never to forget
