It was here before I was born

It should be here after I die

Those beautiful green vines crawling up the trunks of the trees, lost

The waterhole gone, the animals fighting

I knew the luscious leaves were never meant to be there forever

Every song from those little birds whispered in my ear

They whispered me closer saying "Remember this before we're gone"

It was because of us

Those massive trucks beeping away trying to dig them up, trying to kill them

For their houses, for their towns, for their cities

Resting in peace those trees,

thumping to the ground like an earthquake striking
