Jen, Jen She Came Back

I come home to see her standing there.
She takes off her glasses.
At first a glance, then memories come flooding back.
I try my best to stop the tears from trickling down my cheek.
I remember her perfume, which smelt like candy apples.
The days we would play together,
Rainy, cloudy or sunny.
And that she would always be my number one best friend.
I give her a big long squeeze before another look.
I notice her hair, now blonde, but still silky smooth.
Her beautiful blue eyes.
And that same gorgeous smile she had years before.
I missed hearing her laugh,
As well as the sound of her voice.
Oh how she made me feel so close to home.
I loved those days.
I pull away from the hug and say I love you.
She promises that she’ll never leave it that long again.
I give her one last hug goodbye.
As the vehicle drives past the tears come rushing back.
