My feet drowned in the blazing sand
But my numbness denied any sting
Icy ripples flitted through my hand
Demanding my attention to cling
A child’s footprint, tiny next to mine
Growth in the past years has been brought to light
Much has changed, like nature's shine
But its elegance remains, even through the fight
The trees played in the wind's embrace
Singing melodies for every ear
Flowers thrived with beautiful grace
What a lovely surprise, my dear
And now, the time to part has come around
The sky greets me: “Goodbye, friend”
I looked back as my feet held me to the ground
A last glance before the end.
