Laysan Duck

Wings flap and lakes ripple 

slowly through the calm breeze

of the sweet Hawaiian sunset.

A tree sways, a flower blooms, pollen spreads.

In the dark of the night 

a very special duck echoes through the pure, dense darkness.

Morning comes, the sun rises, creating a beautiful artwork.

Suddenly a human appears in the picture

With camouflaged armour and a great barrel gun.

A species is gone, 

gone forever.
