Memories

Encapsulated in writhing golden coils,
spiralling around my past,
measuring my present,
foreseeing my future.
Scents waft from long ago,
mere memories of thumbed pages
and sun-dappled bookshelves.
Crammed to the brim with new worlds –
new worlds luring me in.
Tempting me with
soothing words.
As it thuds against my chest like the beating of a drum,
I feel the doors unlocking all around me.
Magic flows around in a flurry of air,
as visible as the clouds floating across the sky.
Drifting slowly into another realm –
realms far beyond my imagination.
The memories are still there
stuck.
Not lost, but gone like a feather in the breeze.
