Memory Sharer

She recognises me I recognise her
She is not a cat she does not purr
She is warm and she is kind
A friend like her is hard to find
Her vibrance is amber, ebony, ruby and navy
Her ancient cloth when stroked goes wavy
She has memories that she shares with me
Memories that only we can see
Like me falling backwards off a sofa with zilch hesitation
Like us going to make-believe parties with no invitation
I like the how her skin is the colour of a pink bleached shell
Her title is Nunuk and she is my besty
She never ever ever makes me feel testy
She goes with me always through mysteries and sand
Together we discover new plants
We never venture outside the gate boundary
For out there it is cities on land
Nunuk is soiled, ancient and fastened together too
Nunuk tells me about her adventures in Antarctica
Mum hollers we’re having margarita!
It seems pizza reminds me of my Nunuk.
Cheeks the colour of pepperoni
Lips the colour of hot chilli-ony
Eyes the shape of flavorus oliv-iony
