Monkey

One magical morning long long ago,
One beautiful, little soul filled a deep, dark hole in my heart,
He was the part I was missing for the little time of my own.
Whenever a little trickle rolls from my eye,
His love and affection is never to far from my side.
He speaks no words, but his well-being keeps me feeling warm and content.
I don’t mind flaws; flaws are what make him special,
He may be missing ears, maybe even a leg, but never missing a beat in his chest.
As I stare into those brown gazing eyes,
As I touch his soft yet crinkled fabric,
I am reminded of old memories,
Old memories of the two of us.
Like the time he was with me in a car accident going to visit my pop
My pop died earlier that day but…
Having monkey near made everything less numb.
These memories will last a lifetime,
A bond that will last an eternity.
