My eyes widen in horror

As I witness this dreadful sight:

A deadly pool of black oil contaminating the water

And a million schools of fish fleeing in fright.

I desperately claw my way to the surface,

The oil mere meters away.

I swim past a frantic sea turtle,

The sky above the surface is grey.

I reach the surface and gasp for air,

Almost fainting when looking around.

All the seagulls are coated from head to toe,

The oil filling my lungs as I thrash and drown.

The Montara oil spill happened in 2009,

The oil spilling for around 10 weeks.

If everyone used transportation that is oil-free more often,

We could reduce the amount of oil leaks.
