Mother Willow

Flowing branches, leaves green like emeralds;
Golden flowers shining like the sun,
And deep within a wise old trunk a magic wide and deep.
Your spirit flits across my skin as my fingers brush your bark.
My soul soars as I feel your breath on my face.
Your long sigh rustles your leaves spreading joy far and wide.
This is why I write.
I write to give my thanks to you, for the magic that you’ve shared;
And the strength that you have given me, in times I felt alone.
The life within your tall wide trunk once filled me full of wonder;
And as I ran around that trunk, I let out peals of laughter.
So this is why I thank you for giving me your love, choosing me to share:
Your life, your joy, your magic, until the very end.
I will never forget you and the love you gave a lonely child.
Your magic will live on in me and I will share it with the world.
For magic can be found all around us, if one is prepared to look.
It is hidden in the stars and concealed within our streams;
It glows from the buds of flowers and sings upon the breeze.
So thank you Mother Willow for helping me to see;
The beauty of nature right in front of me.
