After school I open my door to see her sitting on my wooden shelf,
Salmon pink roses inside hot chocolate coloured floppy ears
Strawberry stain sitting on her stomach’s side
Cinnamon brown tail
No scars.
No rips.

Without moving, she comforts and protects
Mounted on my shelf waiting
Faithful and reliable
Always present
She waits.

Silence screams throughout the room
Comfort in her eyes
Peaceful.
Gentle.

Came as a gift, from a role model to me
I will eventually hand her down
To the hands of a little one
Similar to me.
