I smell,
The scent of the hospital room,
The perfume that the nurse used.
The disgusting smell of blood.
I hear,
The soft cry of my small baby form,
The nurse saying to my mum it's a boy,
My father telling my mum it's going to be okay.
I feel,
The warm wool from which my dog is made,
My mum's joy and my dad's happiness.
The feeling of excitement, ready to see the world.
I see,
My mum handing me my toy dog,
The nurse picking me up so I can get washed,
The freedom of the world.
I taste,
The old dribble on my dog's tail,
The hair on my dog's collar,
The sandwich my dad ate before he kissed me.
