My Pack of Cards

Everything about my object is special to me,
The back design as blue as the sea.
The square shape that fits snug in my hands,
The amazement and wonder it brings,
The magic it allows me to do is grand,
My packet of cards is my favourite thing.
It is slippery, slick and smooth like silk.
The kings, the queens, the jacks, the aces,
Like a second family who live on the faces.
It flips, it turns, it fans, it spreads.
The possibilities are infinite to what’s inside my head.
They are a mysterious box with secrets inside,
With two blue dragons perched on the box,
They guard the secrets together side by side,
Their bright blue hide is the perfect lock.
To get my cards I had to order them in,
They were made in a faraway land.
My pack of cards is just so special to me,
I’m afraid
no one will ever understand.
