My park

A scrapbook of memories

Cockatoos echo over shimmering waves

Crumbling sand covers the shore like a blanket

Wrinkled hands hold my petite baby figure

My park

Running over verdant grass as golden rays peek through sparse clouds

Happy flowers sprout under a bottle brush tree

Ice blocks drip through a faint summer breeze

Cousins laugh between homemade sandwiches

My park

Swinging between ropes like ring-tailed possums

Magpies fight over crumbs

Ochre footprints from hide and seek

Geckos and dragons hide effortlessly on eucalyptus

Sunburnt land invites me home with her open branches

With a tea in my hands watching children play

Seasons of life change

I smile at my memory book

My park
